Public-private partnership dedicates training dollars to incumbent workforce. Genesis10, a leading U.S. business and technology talent and solutions firm, announced today that its Cleveland branch office and delivery center was recently awarded a grant from the Ohio Incumbent Worker Training Voucher Program.
The funds, intended to support skill-upgrade training, will help the Cleveland branch office achieve its retention and development goals for Northeast Ohio employees.
This grant, a first for Genesis10 and a unique occurrence among staffing organizations, will also benefit Genesis10 clients by delivering a workforce trained in the most up-to-date certifiable skills for hardware, software and instructional design.
“We are excited to explore this unique avenue for providing direct, on-the-job training for our contractors,” said Valerie Miller, National Director, Workforce Development Programs, Genesis10. “We take great pride in our workforce development model, and are excited at the prospects for growing our Ohio talent base.”
The program has two goals: allow employers to retain and grow their existing Ohio workforce and create a statewide workforce that can meet the present and future demands in an ever-changing economy.
Recognizing that employers must find ways to consistently upgrade the skills of their workforce through educational and training opportunities as a means to improve their economic competitiveness, this employer-driven program provides direct financial assistance to train workers and improve the economic competitiveness of Ohio's employers.
The grant is to be applied to incumbent training programs through 2014. Genesis 10 estimates this grant will help offset the training for 30 Northeast Ohio employees.
